Holden and the estate of John Davis. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 26, 1997 Mr. McIntyre introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL For the relief of the estate of William R. Holden and the estate of John Davis. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. PAYMENT AUTHORIZED. As soon as practicable after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Army shall pay-- (1) to the estate of William R. Holden, social security account number 267-02-9232, a lump sum of $1,000,000; and (2) to the estate of John Davis, social security account number 467-21-1729, a lump sum of $1,000,000. SEC. 2. FULL SATISFACTION OF CLAIMS. (a) The payment authorized by paragraph (1) of section 1 shall be in full satisfaction of all claims in connection with the incident which resulted in the death of William R. Holden and John Davis against the United States of each of the following: (1) The estate of William R. Holden. (2) Judy Holden, widow of William R. Holden. (3) The heirs and assigns of William R. Holden. (4) The heirs and assigns of Judy Holden. (b) The payment authorized by paragraph (2) of section 1 shall be in full satisfaction of all claims in connection with the incident which resulted in the death of William R. Holden and John Davis against the United States of each of the following: (1) The estate of John Davis. (2) Teresa Davis, widow of John Davis. (3) The heirs and assigns of John Davis. (4) The heirs and assigns of Teresa Davis. SEC. 3. LIMITATION ON FEES. Not more than a total of 10 percent of the payment authorized by paragraph (1) of section 1 and not more than a total of 10 percent of the payment authorized by paragraph (2) of section 1 shall be paid to or received by agents or attorneys for services rendered in connection with obtaining such payment, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person who violates this section shall be fined not more than $1,000. <all>
