NATIONAL GAMBLING IMPACT STUDY COMMISSION


Meeting

AGENCY: National Gambling Impact Study Commission.

ACTION: Notice of public meeting.

TIME AND DATE: Friday, June 20, 1997; 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

PLACE: The meeting site will be in room 3208, East Promenade, 490 
L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20407.

STATUS: The meeting will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 11 
a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meeting will be closed to the 
public from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for the purpose of considering 
internal personnel rules and practices and to allow for discussion of 
information of a personal nature during the consideration of hiring 
staff. Accordingly, it has been determined that this portion of the 
meeting will concern matters within sections 552b(c) (2) and (6) of 
Title 5, United States Code, and will be duly closed to public 
participation.

MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED: At its inaugural public meeting, the National 
Gambling Impact Study Commission established under Public Law 104-169, 
dated August 3, 1996, will consider general administrative matters and 
substantive agenda including a report on previous gambling studies, 
legislative intent and the Commission workplan.

AUTHORITY: This notice is published consistent with the provisions of 
the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972. It appears for a period of 
less than 15 days in advance of the meeting due to the unique 
scheduling requirements for the Commission's first meeting in 
accordance with its authorizing legislation.
