Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC; Notice of Withdrawal of Application
for Amendments to Renewed Facility Operating Licenses
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission, NRC) has
granted the request of Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (the licensee) to
withdraw its June 29, 2010, application for proposed amendments to
Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-9 and NPF-17 for the
McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, located in Mecklenburg County,
North Carolina, and for proposed amendments to Renewed Facility
Operating License Nos. NPF-35 and NPF-52 for the Catawba Nuclear
Station, Units 1 and 2, located in York County, South Carolina.
The proposed amendment would have revised Technical Specification
(TS) 3.3.1, ``Reactor Trip System (RTS) Instrumentation'' and TS 3.3.2,
``Engineered Safety Feature Actuation System (ESFAS) Instrumentation.''
The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of
Issuance of Amendment published in the Federal Register on January 25,
2011 (76 FR 4384). However, by letter dated April 12, 2011, the
licensee withdrew the proposed change.

application for amendment dated June 29, 2010, and the licensee's
letter dated April 12, 2011, which withdrew the application for license
