II. Background Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the NRC recently submitted a request for renewal of an existing collection of information to OMB for review entitled, ``Access Authorization.'' The NRC hereby informs potential respondents that an agency may not conduct or sponsor, and that a person is not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid OMB control number. The NRC published a Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment period on this information collection on August 31, 2022, 87 FR 53511. [[Page 12703]] 1. The title of the information collection: Access Authorization. 2. OMB approval number: 3150-0046. 3. Type of submission: Revision. 4. The form number, if applicable: Not applicable. 5. How often the collection is required or requested: On occasion. 6. Who will be required or asked to respond: NRC-regulated facilities and other organizations requiring access to NRC-classified information, and NRC contractors with access to classified information or who hold a sensitive position. 7. The estimated number of annual responses: 534 (456 reporting responses plus 78 recordkeepers). 8. The estimated number of annual respondents: 300. 9. The estimated number of hours needed annually to comply with the information collection requirement or request: 226 hours (160 hours reporting + 66 hours recordkeeping). 10. Abstract: NRC collects information on individuals in order to determine their eligibility for an NRC access authorization for access to classified information. NRC-regulated facilities and other organizations are required to provide information to the NRC when requested on the cleared individual and maintain records to ensure that only individuals with the adequate level of protection are provided access to NRC classified information and material.
