   STATUS OF ORGANIZATION OF STATE, TERRITORIAL
AND REGIONAL PLANNING AGENCIES AND OF FIELD OFFICES

     Encouraged, by the National Resources Committee and. its predecessors, and with the help of the Public Works Administration, the Works Progress Administration and other Federal agencies, State planning agencies are now operative in 44 states. In 39 of these, and in the District of Columbia, and the Territories of Alaska and Hawaii, the organizations have been placed upon a statutory basis as regular governmental agencies. For the current fiscal year ending June 30, 1939, Legislatures and Governors have made available over $800,000 for their official planning activities.

      In order to expedite arrangements for meetings "between the various State Planning Boards, and for securing cooperation between the Boards and Federal and State agencies, field offices of the Committee are being established as shown upon the accompanying map. These offices serve the various State Boards in their general areas and also serve as headquarters for Regional Planning Commissions and other interstate planning activities, General advisory service to the State planning agencies; on* their research and planning programs is supplied by the Regional CouJ^ₑ, selors. Special consultants are assigned from time to time to assist.’’./ State and regional planning agencies on special problems as they ari’se.J The names and addresses of Chairmen, Counselors, and Planning Technicians, appointed to date are listed herein.                                    •••*
