Hon. Robin H. Carle, Clerk of the House, the Capitol, Washington, D.C. Dear Robin: As you are no doubt aware, I have decided that I will not seek re-election in the 106th Congress as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. In conjunction with that decision, I have notified the Governor of Georgia that I have withdrawn pursuant to Section 21-2-503 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated and will not take the seat of congressman for the Sixth District of Georgia for the 106th Congress. I will, however, complete my term as congressman for the Sixth District of Georgia for the entirety of the 105th Congress.
