The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) has won a 2020 Government Experience Award for govinfo, the one-stop site for authentic information published by the Government. The Government Experience Awards recognizes the achievements and best practices of states, cities, counties, and Federal agencies that are radically improving the experience of Government and pushing the boundaries of how citizen services are delivered. GPO won an award in the Project Experience category.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, GPO added 64,630 new documents to govinfo, more than a 20 percent increase compared to the same time period last year. The govinfo team transitioned to teleworking 100 percent of the time in mid-March and during the COVID-19 pandemic GPO enhanced the system for a better experience for users. Since the pandemic began there have been more than 188 million retrievals from govinfo.
In the first fully virtual release cycle in July, GPO made more updates to the govinfo system than it has in any previous release. Updates included a major technology refresh, expanded automated testing, and enhancements to search, display, and the repository. For more information, see the July 2020 Release Notes.
